Data changelog
This is PlainCivil’s public record of verified data corrections and material methodology changes. We only add entries we can substantiate from the source data or our published pipeline.
August 10, 2026: fee-population disclosure and trust-fabric wiring
Corrected the homepage's paid-fee floor, which had been computed while excluding $0 protective-order filings from the underlying figure, making the displayed range inconsistent with the site's own database. Also corrected an overstated coverage claim (some surfaces referenced 50 states plus DC against a dataset that covers 10 states) and wired citation/trust-footer blocks consistently across the primary page types.
July 27, 2026: methodology scope and publisher identity corrections
Rewrote the methodology page to remove overstated claims (including a "reviewed line-by-line by our editorial team" description of what is a programmatic, database-driven pipeline) and replaced them with a bounded description of actual coverage (12 process types, 10 states), the data-vintage month, and how estimated records are flagged. Renamed the published author entity from "Plaincivil Editorial" (implying a human editorial team) to "PlainCivil" with an Organization credential, matching how the site is actually produced.
July 26, 2026: public changelog established
PlainCivil established this page to make future verified corrections and material methodology changes easier to trace. It does not represent a correction to a civil-fee record or a change to the underlying dataset.
